Celebrating over 10 years in fine food and fun After spending 6 years as a sushi chef in Japan, Brian Ni decided to come to America. He moved to New York, and after 3 more years of preparing the finest sushi, he visited his sister Jeanne in Wisconsin. It was during this time he future wife, Erica. Together Brian, Jeanne and Erica decided it was time to bring their talents to Madison. They opened Takara Japanese Restaurant on State Street in 2002. Their love of bringing a truly great dining experience led them to opening Takara II on Whitney Way in 2006 and a third location in Middleton in 2014. Each location offers a unique and excellent experience. We look forward to serving you and continuing a tradition of outstanding dining. Disappointing takeout once again. After enjoying them for 2 years, the past 2 takeout orders have been less than enjoyable. Scallop sushi replaced with surf clams without checking, fish tasted off.

Very frustrating that i couldnt get an estimate of how long the order would take before i placed it. Once i placed the order, i got notification that it would take an hour, which was much longer than expected. Even worse, it actually took almost 2 hr

the lunch specials are amazing! They filled me up during my short lunch break and were very tasty. Also came with miso, and a opted for a ginger cooler, all was under $20! I know where I will be coming more often for lunch! THANK YOU TAKARA

Food is always great. We arrived to pick up an hour and a half after we ordered, but it took another hour from time we arrived. I think they forgot about us or werent checking the online order service. It was very busy and warned there would be a prolonged wait time on Valentine’s Day but 2.5 hours is excessive time to make 3 rolls.

We love Takara 88, it's our go to for excellent sushi, miso soup, salad, edamame, etc. We live only a few blocks away and feel so blessed to have such a wonderful place nearby.
